When it comes to staying up on our big sister city up the road (that’s Charleston) I love reading TheDigitel.

It’s a great spot to keep up with not only what they think is interesting, but they’ll even point your over to other sites (like The Post and Courier or a blog) that has good Charleston content. TheDigitel watches all of the local media and filter out the junk content you don’t have to. It’s like book reviews for journalism!

And unlike a lot of local media they update the site throughout the day so you’re not left to starve for more reading during the workday, and it’s all local! So if you’re reading about the best in biking, you know it’s Charleston biking and not Michigan biking.

If you’ve not yet heard of the City Loft Hotel in Beaufort, it’s time.

The boutique hotel is quite a different change of pace from what we’re used to seeing in downtown historic Beaufort: Included in the rooms are a king size memory foam topped bed and chair, refrigerator and supple flat-screen TV.

They’ve also got great conveniences like WiFi, a full-service coffee shop (City Java & News), parking and are near of four of Beaufort’s best restaurants.

Hilton Head’s miles of beaches are perfect for day of frolicking in the sand, swimming in the ocean and even fishing for sharks. Framed by the May River, Bluffton offers fishing holes, crabbing and boating. By land, there are festivals, indoor playgrounds and lots of local restaurants with chicken fingers on the menu. Beaufort’s antebellum reputation makes it picturesque for a day of bike riding, picnicking and more.
